Logan - March 2010

As you can tell by the pictures, Logan's favourite toy right now is his play food. He could play with it all day long. He is really starting to play "pretend" and it is funny to see him acting things out with his toys. His other favourite thing to play with right now is his puzzles. I recently rearranged the toy area and brought the shelving unit down from his room. Now all his puzzles are on one shelf and he can talk them out and play with them whenever he likes. He has gotten really good at all of them except for the alphabet ones. He is pretty good about reciting his alphabet, but he still doesn't recognize a lot of the letters. He does really good though if I ask him where something is, for example, grapes, and he can put the letter 'G' in the spot with the grapes.

Now that spring is around the corner and we have had a couple of days of good weather, Logan is really looking forward to being able to play outside. It is very hard to get him to come inside without a lot of persuasion.

Graysen - 8 Months Old

Wow! Graysen is 8 months old already. I still can't believe how fast my baby girl is growing. She is now 17lbs and 27 inches long. Her weight gain has finally plateaued since Christmas since she has started sitting up and is becoming more active. She still hates being on her tummy and I really doubt that she will ever crawl. She is starting to try and pull up and loves to stand up holding on to something. She also now has 2 teeth and working on a couple more. She is eating solid food and pretty much loves to eat anything we are eating.

In other news, we recently moved Graysen to a full size mattress in her own room. She had been sleeping in bed with me pretty much since she was born. She really does not like her crib and has refused to sleep there. She had been waking up anywhere from 2-8 times per night and I was really needing some sleep so we decided to try this option and it seems to be working out pretty well. She is generally waking once a night and has actually slept through the entire night once already.

Logan - February 2010

I can't believe how quickly time is going by. Logan is heading towards his 3rd birthday. It feels like just yesterday, we were bringing him home from the hospital. He has been enjoying this winter weather we have had and loves to play in the snow. He especially like to make snowballs and throw them on the road. He amazes me everyday with some of the things that come out of his mouth. He is such a creative little boy and has a vivid imagination.

Sorry that this month's update is short. I promise to make up for it next month.

Graysen - 7 Months

Graysen is now 7 months old. She weighs 16lbs 6oz as of last week. She is now sitting up unassisted for longer periods of time and loves to play with all of her toys and Logan's toys as well. She has also started to eat solid foods including sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, rice and Cheerios. She has also tried bananas and peas, but does not like them. She is starting to use a sippy cup for water and is getting the hang of it rather quickly unlike her brother who didn't want anything to do a sippy cup until almost a year old. She is also becoming quite the vocal little girl and loves to carry on a conversation with anyone who listen.
She is very close to getting her first tooth. I can feel a sharp edge just below her gums and the tooth next to it is also close. I really hope that her teeth come through without too much trouble and that she doesn't take to biting me.

Logan - January 2010

Logan is now 32 months old. I can't believe that in 4 short months, he will be 3 years old! He continues to be a very active little boy that loves to get into everything. His speech has greatly improved over the last few months and he is now speaking in 3-5 word sentences and more of his words are becoming understandable. I think that this has greatly helped with his temper tantrums as he is now able to get his needs and wants across to us.

We recently took a trip home for Christmas and Logan loved the airport and the planes. This was the first time that he had his own seat on the plane and was able to watch a movie during the flight. This was also the first year that he somewhat understood Christmas and he loved opening up his presents. Santa was nice and brought him a Cars tent with a sleeping bag made by his Nana. I will have to get some pictures of him using his tent once we get it set up downstairs.

Graysen - 6 Months Old

Graysen turned 6 months old on Boxing Day. I still can't believe that she is already halfway to her first birthday. She had her 6 month check-up on January 11 and was 15lbs 13oz (50th percentile) and 26 1/2 inches (85th percentile). She is starting to sit up unassisted now, although she does need the assistance of her hands out in front of her to balance herself. She is also standing with assistance and able to grasp things and get them to her mouth with ease. And in other good news, she finally has enough hair for her first pigtail.

Unfortunately she had her first real illness a couple of weeks before Christmas. It started off as a cough and wheezing and she was started on nebulizer treatments to help open up her lungs. It then progressed to a worse cough and a very high fever. Thankfully she was feeling well the day that we flew home for Christmas. After a couple of days with a fever of 104F, the fever finally broke on Christmas Eve and she was able to enjoy her first Christmas.

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving this year was pretty laid back. Jason had just gotten over a really bad viral illness and I was trying to keep the kids and I from getting it. We made a small turkey breast, potatoes, vegetables and stuffing and then a cheesecake for dessert. This was the first year that Logan actually ate any turkey too. And of course, he used his condiment of choice; ketchup.

I have to say that I am very thankful to have two wonderful, healthy children that are the lights of my life.
